Alan Vidot - Melbourne DOP

Melbourne based, international award winning, Cinematographer and Director.

Alan creates cinematic, story-driven imagery across narrative films, commercials, documentaries, music videos and branded content. With a background in photography, audio engineering and post-production, he brings a collaborative approach and a strong understanding of every stage of the filmmaking process. In addition to cinematography, Alan works as a gaffer, colourist, sound designer and licensed drone operator.

His directorial debut short film, Two Shots, has received multiple international awards and festival recognition. The film won Best Crime Drama Short at the Cinema WorldFest Film Awards, where Alan also received Best Lighting Short and Best Sound Design Short. Two Shots also won Best Acting Duo Short (Claire Duncan & Madeleine Mason) and Best Original Score Short (Chris Woodhouse), received an Honourable Mention for Best Cinematography at the New York International Film Awards, was nominated for Best Short Film, and earned Best Supporting Actress for Madeleine Mason together with a Best Actress nomination for Claire Duncan at the Red Movie Awards 2026. The film continues to screen internationally, receiving official selections and finalist recognition at film festivals around the world.

Alan believes great cinematography should do more than create beautiful images, it should immerse audiences, heighten emotion and serve the story. Whether working as a Director of Photography or leading a project as Director, his focus is always on crafting compelling cinematic experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Alan also served as Aerial Director of Photography on Blvck Gold, which screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), the St Kilda Film Festival, the Pan African Film Festival and Fantastic Film Festival.
